Chocolate Crostinis with Mumbo Jumbo — MESA

We recently received this great email from a new Mumbo Jumbo customer.  It was so great — we decided to post it to the blog…we can’t wait to try the recipe!

Hi,
I walked out of Savi on Saturday with my new jar of Mesa in my hand and a fresh loaf of crusty bread. After chatting with y’all I had assured you that NO WAY would I ever post a blog comment or anything like that. But, after my experience last night, I withdraw that comment and offer you this comment instead:

My crusty bread was to form the basis of a chocolate crostini – I toasted the baguette slices and drizzled them with olive oil.  I melted some beautiful dark chocolate and spooned it onto the crostinis. It was OK but lacking some pizzazz. My original plan was to dot the top with fresh pomegranate seeds and a few bits of sea salt but when I cut open the pomegranate, it was rotten!  Right next to the rotten pom sat my new jar of Mesa. I was chatting with my mom as I worked and, knowing her to be a sister spice-lover, opened up the jar to proffer a sniff to her. Then it hit me! This stuff would be awesome on the chocolate! I sprinkled some Mesa on a sample crostini, added a few little rock salt crystals and ate it in two heavenly bites. And went back for another! The smoky chili taste is a perfect complement to the dark chocolate and I proudly entered my luscious crostinis into a tapas party contest. Many folks raved and voted for it though I don’t think I actually won!

I don’t know how to actually post on a blog so I offer you my humble story here with much thanks and support. I was already a big fan of Savi but became even more so after they baked a fresh loaf of bread for me, after sipping the wine and after tasting your lovely samples. I wish you all the best and look forward to trying the other three spices!

Best,
McKenzie Wren
